Construction Completes on the South and West Elevations

Exterior construction continues at the Robbin/Hutchinson House Interpretive Center with the completion of clapboards on the south and west elevations. The exterior envelope (clapboards, windows, doors and roof) are expected to be complete by the end of February. We will continue to repair structural issues and plan for the interpretive exhibit spaces.

The Sudbury Foundation Grant will help us launch our interpretation and exhibits research and work: interior restoration of the property and preliminary exhibit design.

We’re having fun now!

The contractors are layering 3 courses of shingles on the lower edge and will continue up the roof with a single overlapping layer. The first row is the critical and hardest row to set given the fact that the house doesn’t have a perfect perpendicular or parallel line in it’s structure. The remainder of the front shingles should progress quickly.

To Do list:
1. Custom exterior trim installed
2. Alaskan Yellow Cedar roof shingles completed on front, rear to begin
3. Custom windows complete and front door ready in a couple of weeks
4. Pine clapboards
5. Copper gutters in rear to protect accessible entrance
